Golf Digest's Ireland ranking is the list most American readers arrive with. Taken as a route rather than a league table, it is a north-to-south sweep: Royal County Down and Portmarnock at the top of the island, Carne in the northwest, then Lahinch, Ballybunion and Waterville down the Atlantic, with Adare Manor as the inland finale during match week. That is almost exactly the arc of our seven-day golf itinerary.
