Adare Manor: How To Play, Stay And Eat

The Manor, the Fazio rebuild, and the course the world is coming to watch in 2027.

County Limerick, The Golden ValeFour chapters30 min read

Adare Manor is not a links, and it is not a golf hotel. It is a Gothic Revival country house restored between 2015 and 2017 as one of the great houses of Europe, with a Tom Fazio rebuild of a Robert Trent Jones parkland course on the estate. It hosts the 2027 Ryder Cup because it is now, quietly, the most complete inland course in Ireland.

This is the trip that behaves less like a golf holiday and more like a stay. Three nights, one round, and a village outside the gate that has been rehearsing this moment for four hundred years. We plan Adare for the guests who want the ceremony, and for the golfers who want to walk a course the world is about to watch.

Four chapters, in order. Play, plan, eat, book.

Before You Book

What visitors usually ask about Adare Manor

Do we need to stay at Adare Manor to play the course?
In practice, yes. Tee times are prioritised for resident guests, and the round is bundled into the stay experience (arrival, caddie, lunch on the terrace, dinner in the Oak Room). Non-resident play is possible on limited days but it is not the trip the estate is designed to deliver.
How does Adare Manor differ from the links in this collection?
It is a Tom Fazio parkland course, not a links. The River Maigue winds through eight holes, the greens are American-fast, and the ball flies. If Ballybunion and Portrush are the Ireland the wind writes, Adare is the Ireland the estate manicures. Both belong on the trip.
When is the best time of year to play Adare Manor?
May through October. The course drains better than any links in Ireland thanks to the Fazio rebuild, so shoulder seasons are more reliable here than on the coasts. The 2027 Ryder Cup falls in September, and prime dates around it are already booking.
What is the dress code and caddie policy at Adare Manor?
Country-club standard: tailored trousers or shorts, collared shirt, soft spikes, jacket for dinner in the main house. Caddies are available on request and recommended for a first round on the Fazio. Caddies at the top Irish clubs are professionals and the tip is the largest line item of the round. Budget €70 to €100 per bag on top of the caddie fee, more if you have played well or been walked around a big course in bad weather. Cash, in euro (or sterling in Northern Ireland), handed over at the eighteenth.
Is Adare village worth exploring beyond the estate?
Yes. Adare is one of the prettiest villages in Ireland (thatched cottages, the Trinitarian Abbey, the Dunraven Arms across the road) and a short walk from the manor gates. Book a lunch at 1826 Adare or a pint at Aunty Lena's on a rest day.
