Tralee is the most photographed round in Kerry and the most exacting to book, and the two facts are connected. Arnold Palmer's first European design sits out at Barrow on a peninsula north of the town, the back nine climbs into a dune system that looks like a film set, and every group that has seen a photograph of it wants a tee time.
The club's answer has been to publish its terms in full and hold to them. A fifty per cent non-refundable deposit. A balance due ninety days before play regardless of cancellations. Handicap limits that are checked at the desk. None of that is unreasonable, and all of it rewards reading before you commit.
