How To Book St Patrick's Links: 2027 Green Fees, Dates And The Resort Guest Rate

The 2027 Season

Rosapenna's 2027 golf season runs from 22 March to 31 October, but St Patrick's Links itself opens on Friday 9 April and closes on Sunday 17 October 2027. If you are planning a late March or late October trip, you will be playing Sandy Hills and the Old Tom Morris Links, not St Patrick's. This is the single most important date to check before you book flights.

You should also check the resort's calendar for tournaments before you commit to dates. Rosapenna publishes a tournaments page, and while we have not listed specific events here, a club or open competition on the day you want can take tee times off the visitor sheet. Ask when you enquire, and ask again when you confirm.

We would plan around the middle of that window. Late April and May give you long evenings and a quieter course. June and July are the busiest months at any Irish links, and August is popular with Irish and British visitors. Early September has the Three Links Ticket blackout from 1 to 24 September, so if that ticket is part of your plan, choose another month. Whatever you choose, make sure your dates sit inside 9 April to 17 October, or you will not play the course you came for.

Why It Is Easier Than The Big Clubs

Royal County Down, Royal Portrush and Lahinch are private members' clubs. Visitors play on set days and times, in allocations the members agree to, and the most popular summer mornings go many months in advance. St Patrick's belongs to a resort. Rosapenna owns the course, sells its own tee times online and by phone, and offers its hotel guests a lower rate. You are dealing with one business, not a club secretary.

That does not mean you can wait. The course has become very well known very quickly, and the resort sold out its 2026 Three Links Ticket allocation. But it does mean the booking itself is simple, and you will not be told that the course is closed to visitors on the day you want. Our advice is to use that simplicity to book early, rather than as a reason to book late.

We would add a caution. Because it is a resort course, you will share it with groups staying at Rosapenna for several days, and they get the resort guest rate and first call on the Stay and Play packages. The best way to compete with them is to become one of them: book the room and the golf together.

What It Costs

For 2027 the standard visitor rate on St Patrick's is €380 for a day visitor and €330 for a resort guest. The equivalent 2026 rates were €350 and €300. Sandy Hills is €270 and €220 in 2027, and the Old Tom Morris Links €210 and €160.

The €50 difference is the practical argument for staying at the hotel: across a group of four playing St Patrick's once and the other two courses once each, the resort guest rate saves €600. Rosapenna also sells Stay and Play packages, with golf booked at a discounted rate as part of the stay.

There is a much lower Irish resident rate, but it requires a current Irish or Northern Irish driving licence and a Golf Ireland or iGolf index for each golfer, checked in the golf shop on the day. Visiting Americans pay the standard visitor rate.

We would budget for more than the green fee. On top of each St Patrick's round, you should allow €90 per bag for a caddie plus a gratuity, and the rooms, dinners and driver. For a group of four at the resort guest rate, the St Patrick's rounds alone come to €1,320 in 2027, before caddies. It is still less than the visitor green fees at several of Ireland's best known clubs, and it is the reason we think Rosapenna is one of the better values in Irish golf.

The Three Links Ticket

The Three Links Ticket gives one round on each course within seven days. For 2027 the standard visitor ticket is €710, a 17.5 percent saving. The terms are strict: off peak tee times only, 45 days advance notice, full payment 45 days before play through a single payment link, non refundable and non transferable once paid. It is not available from 1 to 24 September 2027, and 2027 bookings open on 1 November. The 2026 allocation sold out, which tells you to apply early.

You should read the terms as a commitment rather than a discount. Off peak means the resort chooses the tee time bands, not you, and the 45 day payment deadline means the money leaves your account well before you fly.

We would only buy it if your group is certain of its dates and happy to play off peak times. The saving is real, but the ticket is non refundable once paid, and a change of plan 30 days before travel costs you the whole amount. If your dates are firm, apply on or soon after 1 November. If they are not, book the three rounds separately at the resort guest rate, which is more flexible.

How To Book

Golf only tee times book online through Rosapenna's Book Golf page, or through Central Golf Reservations on 00353 (0)74 915 5000 and golf@rosapenna.ie. For a stay with golf, Stay and Play reservations are on 00353 (0)74 915 5301 and reservations@rosapenna.ie, and for 2027 the resort asks you to book golf and room together.

We would email rather than phone for the first enquiry, so you have the dates, the rate and the caddie request in writing. Ask for a written confirmation of each tee time, the rate applied and any deposit or cancellation terms, and keep it with your travel documents.

Request your caddies in the same message. They cost €90 per bag plus gratuity, paid directly to the caddie, and are not guaranteed. If anyone in the group needs a buggy, note that St Patrick's is walking only; book that golfer on Sandy Hills or Old Tom Morris for the same morning.

You should also know how to book as a visitor who is not staying. The Book Golf page on Rosapenna's site takes golf only tee times directly, at the day visitor rate. If you are staying elsewhere in Donegal, or passing through on the way to Portrush, that is the route to use. We would still recommend staying at least one night, for the €50 saving on each St Patrick's round and to avoid the drive.

Caddies, Buggies And Hire

Rosapenna's published hire list is short and useful. A caddie is €90 per bag plus gratuity, paid directly to the caddie, and can be requested but is not guaranteed. Electric buggies with GPS are €60 per round, but not on St Patrick's, which is walking only with no exceptions. Push trolleys are €6 per day and electric trolleys €25 per round. Hire clubs are €60 per day in current Titleist sets, left and right handed, and must be reserved in advance by phone or at golf@rosapenna.ie.

Our advice is to request caddies for St Patrick's for everyone in your group, and to ask whether they can be arranged for the other two courses too. If anyone in your group cannot walk eighteen holes of dunes, book them a buggy on Sandy Hills or Old Tom Morris for the same morning and meet for lunch.

When To Book

Book as soon as you have dates, and certainly before the new year for a June or July round. The Three Links Ticket opens on 1 November and has already sold out once. If you are also playing Royal Portrush or Royal County Down, secure those first, because their visitor calendars are tighter, then build Rosapenna around them.

We would book the rest of Donegal around the golf rather than the other way round. Once St Patrick's is confirmed, add the second and third rounds, then the dinners, then the driver. If your group is also flying into Belfast or Dublin, book the airport transfer last, once you know which day you arrive and what time you will want to reach the hotel.

We would also build in time to change your mind. Book the room and golf once your flights are held, not before, and keep the non refundable Three Links Ticket for last. You want your dates settled before money is committed that cannot come back.

The Booking We Would Make

For a group of four Americans travelling in May or June 2027, this is what we would send. One email to reservations@rosapenna.ie asking for three nights of Stay and Play, two Bay View Junior Suites, one St Patrick's round per golfer on the first full morning, one round each on Sandy Hills and Old Tom Morris on the second day, and four caddies for St Patrick's. Ask for the resort guest rate on each round, and a confirmation of the total in euro.

Then hold the reply until your flights are confirmed, and pay. If the dates are off peak and you are certain of them, ask whether the Three Links Ticket would be cheaper for your group; if so, it opens on 1 November. Either way, you will have the most talked about new tee time in Ireland booked in one message, which is more than you can say for most of the great Irish links.
