Ireland · Curated from the Inside
An Ireland,
quietly authored.
Editorial itineraries, stays and journeys for Americans who want the Ireland people remember.
The Quick Answer
The Ireland Edit is a luxury Ireland travel guide written by an American editor living here. We test every hotel, restaurant and experience we recommend. For most American first-timers we suggest seven to ten days, basing in Dublin and Kerry, with a private driver for the west coast. Start with our 7-day itinerary, then layer in golf, castles or honeymoon stops as needed.
- Best window: late May to early June, or all of September
- Minimum trip length we recommend: 7 nights
- Top hotel base outside Dublin: Adare Manor, Ashford Castle or Ballyfin
- Private driver beats a rental car for most luxury travelers

Ireland, One Region at a Time.
We do not write about everywhere. We write properly about the places we return to. Each collection is a region we know well enough to argue about: where to stay, what is worth the drive, and what we would quietly leave out.

How To Play Narin & Portnoo Links, The Hanse Restoration On Gweebara Bay
Narin & Portnoo is a 1905 links on the Donegal coast that Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner rebuilt between 2018 and 2020, moving fifteen greens and returning the course to a shorter, stranger par. The club does not publish a scorecard online, so here is what we can tell you and how to plan the day.
How To Play Mount Juliet Estate: Nicklaus, Five Lakes, And A Walled Sixteenth
Mount Juliet is a par 72 Jack Nicklaus Signature Design on the banks of the River Nore in County Kilkenny, about 7,200 yards from the back tees, with five lakes affecting six holes and over 80 bunkers. Here is what the course asks of a visiting American, how to play it, and how it compares to the rest of Ireland's parkland golf.
How To Play The K Club: Palmer North, Palmer South, And Which One Is Your Round
The K Club in County Kildare holds two Arnold Palmer designs under one roof, a parkland course that has hosted a Ryder Cup and three Irish Opens, and an inland links that carried two European Opens. Here is what each course asks of a visiting American, and which one belongs on your card.
