Derry walls on foot

The full circuit, mid-afternoon, ending at the Guildhall.

We begin our Derry circuit at the Bishop Street gate, a full loop typically taking less than an hour. These are the most complete city walls in Ireland, and they are the only ones you can continuously walk. We always conclude our perambulations at the Guildhall.

Along the circuit, we recommend pausing at the Verbal Arts Centre. From there, you can observe the Bogside, gaining a necessary perspective on the city's complex history. Our experience of the place is made richer with this stop.

This is the most essential hour you can spend in Ireland’s north-west.
