The Expat Perspective
We base in Kenmare. The three-street triangle is small enough to walk cold the first night, the bay is the closing line of every evening, and the Ring of Kerry is forty minutes from the door. Three days is the honest length: one to arrive into a fire, one to do the Ring with a driver, one to take Killarney's lakes and Muckross on foot.
What follows is the three-day spine we'd give ourselves. The room, the road, the table, the lake path. Every name on the page is real and bookable. Nothing is filler. The Dingle Peninsula is its own trip, on its own page. So is Beara, so is the Skellig boat.
The Three Days, In Order
Day 1 · kerry kenmare
Arrival into Kenmare. Drop the bags, walk the three-street triangle cold, eat where the kitchen knows the room, one pub, bed before midnight.
Day 2 · kerry ring of kerry
The Ring done at its own pace. Counter-clockwise from Killarney, Valentia for the cliffs, Sneem on the way back, the dinner that meets the long day.
Day 3 · kerry killarney
Killarney National Park slowly. Muckross House grounds, the lake path, the Reeks behind it. The day belongs to the water.
Where We'd Sleep
Three houses we'd actually book ourselves. Park Hotel Kenmare for the drawing-room evenings, Sheen Falls for the river path, Aghadoe Heights for the Reeks framed in the west-facing windows.
