The Galmont Hotel & Spa
Luxury hotel review · Galway Docks
"A pool, a car park, and Eyre Square in ten minutes."
The First Feeling
Straightforwardly efficient. Check-in is quick, the car is parked, and you are walking into town within twenty minutes.
What People Get Wrong
It is a big hotel, and it feels like one.
Corridors are long, the lobby is busy and there is nothing period about it. Travellers looking for Irish charm should stay at Glenlo Abbey outside the city or in a small Latin Quarter guesthouse and accept the trade-offs. This is a practical base, chosen deliberately.
The Atmosphere
A large contemporary hotel facing Galway's inner harbour, with the docks and the Long Walk in front of it and the medieval city a few streets beyond.
The Room to Request
Ask for a dock-facing room, high floor.
The water side is quieter and better looking than the road side, and the upper floors get the light off the bay. Family rooms are genuinely sized for four, which is rarer in Ireland than it should be.

Small things you remember later
