Linnane's sits at the end of a short pier on New Quay, with the Flaggy Shore on one side and the Burren rising behind. The room is plain, the tables are simple, and the food is the point: lobster, brown crab, chowder, oysters from the beds you can see from the window. It is our first choice for lunch anywhere in Ireland, and it is the natural end to a morning on the oyster beds at the Flaggy Shore. Come in daylight. The view is half of what you are paying for.

We eat here every single time we are in Clare. Lobster and brown bread at a tin tray with the Atlantic in front of you is the plainest and best meal on the island.
