Fishy Fishy is the restaurant that made Kinsale a food town, and unlike most places that carry that weight it has not coasted. The fish comes off boats a few hundred yards away, the cooking is straightforward, and the terrace on a warm afternoon is one of the pleasant hours of a southern trip. Kinsale is small enough to walk between the three places worth eating in, and this is the one we book first.

What it actually feels like.
Book lunch rather than dinner and sit outside. Dinner in Kinsale is easier to improvise than lunch in high season.
Why we recommend it
A space that justifies the journey.
A room with a queue outside it usually disappoints. This one does not, which after twenty years is the whole recommendation.
