Foxy John's

Editorial Review

Foxy John's

Main Street, Dingle, County Kerry

The Atmosphere

A hardware shop and a bar in the same room. Buy a hammer, order a whiskey.

Foxy John's is one of the last of Dingle's dual-purpose premises: shelves of hardware down one side, a bar down the other, and no sense that this is unusual. You can buy a torch and a whiskey in the same transaction. The whiskey list is short and sensible, weighted towards Kerry and the Dingle Distillery up the road, and the room fills with a mix of locals and walkers off the peninsula. It is two doors from Dick Mack's, which makes the pair of them the shortest and best pub crawl in Ireland.

Rooms Worth Requesting

What it actually feels like.

Do Foxy John's and Dick Mack's in one evening; they are two doors apart. Bring cash for the hardware side.

Foxy John's

Why we recommend it

A space that justifies the journey.

A working hardware shop that never stopped being a bar. It is the most purely enjoyable room in Dingle and it takes itself seriously about none of it.
