7 Days in Greater Dublin: The Definitive Itinerary

Seven days lets Dublin breathe and gives the surrounding counties the space they deserve. Two slow days in the city, a coastal day on the DART, a day in the Wicklow Mountains, a day in the Boyne Valley, a day at Powerscourt, a closing day in Kilkenny. One Dublin hotel for the first four nights. One country house for the last three.

The places we recommend to friends.

Experiences

Why two hotels, not one.

Most seven-day Dublin trips stay in the city the whole time. That makes the back half feel like padding. Moving to Powerscourt at Day 5 turns the trip into two distinct experiences: the city, then the country house. The change of base is what makes seven days feel earned.

  • Four nights in Dublin covers the city, the coast and the Wicklow day-trip. Trinity, Guinness, Howth, Glendalough. All within The Merrion's orbit.
  • Three nights at Powerscourt covers the country-house ending. Powerscourt itself, the Newgrange day-trip, and the closing transfer to Kilkenny.
