Giant's Causeway
Co. Antrim
The Atmosphere
“40,000 basalt columns formed 60 million years ago. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.”
The Giant's Causeway is one of the world's great geological wonders. 40,000 interlocking basalt columns formed by ancient volcanic activity 60 million years ago. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it combines stark natural beauty with Irish mythology (the giant Finn McCool built it to walk to Scotland). The visitor experience is excellent, but the coastal path beyond the main site reveals equally spectacular formations without the crowds.
Rooms Worth Requesting
What it actually feels like.
Visit Bushmills Distillery next door, then walk the cliff path to the Causeway rather than taking the shuttle.
Why we recommend it
A space that justifies the journey.
Walk the coastal path beyond the main site for the best photos and fewer crowds.
